The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
This project tackled on the idea of creating a one page website that tells a compelling story such as a brands narrative, a products journey, a personal tale or any creative narrative of my choice. Ultimately, the choice felt simple and it ended up being a website created to promote Chappell Roan’s newest single (at the time of creation), “The Giver”, whilst also showcasing her entire life and musical career so far (achievements, awards, songs released and more).

My design decisions created a promotional website that would serve to showcase the new song released by Chappell Roan and to promote her as an artist itself and to establish the history behind how she got to where she is today and her brand as an artist. It also acted as an aesthetically pleasing, visually appealing way to show off the new single released by the artist and acted as a kind of fun way for me to experiment.

Research

During my research, I had to look into the entirety of Chappell Roan’s past, including her life before her music career and what drove her to pursue the career she’s in currently. I was lead down a path of the inspirations behind her music, how her family supported her through it all, the awards she received and was nominated for as well as how her career almost failed entirely because of her initial label dropping her.
Final Look

I was praised for the design itself and how I executed it. The only feedback received was about fixing the colour contrast between the Primary Orange and the dark background as well as the separation between the Story and Music section not having the wood on the Story section’s background. I was also advised to remove empty divs I had previously used for separating the different items and to simplify the code on that section. During this project, I was able to create a website that left me feeling proud of myself for polishing my skills in designing a functional website, one that left me enjoying building websites.
