A Relic of Time

The idea behind this project was a sort of homage to the early 2000s and the recent popularity with physical media in teens and young adults. It was to give a sort of nostalgic feel whilst also just looking good overall. I took direct inspiration from the y2k movement and my personal love for the era and its aesthetics.

Research

The research behind this project was done through looking at various time accurate stereos/cd players from the early 2000s as well as thinking about the main idea for the GIF, such as the background and the main focal point. After all that was established, creating the assets and animating the GIF was easier.

Final Look

worked with a lot of asset building and was able to curate my skills when building multiple layers for animating. I caught myself off guard with the execution of every asset in the GIF as I did not look up any tutorial and only used images or quick sketches I drafted in a couple minutes.
